About
Hello!
My name is Katie and I was born and raised in West Michigan, just a few miles away from Lake Michigan. I inherited the sewing gene from my grandmother, but it wasn’t until college that I gave it a shot myself. I was wanting to get a nice Christmas gift for my then boyfriend’s parents; so I asked my mom to teach me how to use a sewing machine to make a very simple patchwork quilt and the rest is history!
I learned the majority of my sewing skills during my college years working in a costume shop. The women there taught me pretty much everything I know. After a few weeks on the job, I’m pretty sure they were surprised when I asked them how to thread a needle and do whip stitch; but they never gave up on me!
After college, while working at a fabric store, I took interest in quilting and have never looked back. I love making something beautiful out of some yardage of fabric. It’s hard to get bored when the possibilities are endless. Over the past three years of longarming, I have had the pleasure of creating new friendships and deepened old ones which has been the icing on the cake!
I live in West Michigan with my husband (yes, the same guy whose parents I made that quilt for. It worked!) and two daughters. We love Michigan summers and wonder why we live here in the dead of winter. But then summer comes just in time to remind us.
I look forward to working with you to give that finishing touch to your already beautiful quilts!
